Community Guidelines

(Our House Rules – Come as You Are, Grow as You Will) At the Church of Spirits™, we are a faith-rooted community that meets daily for fellowship, good food, real talk, and connection—without the formality or judgment of traditional church settings. We're here to create a safe, welcoming third space where anyone can explore spirituality, build relationships, and find support exactly where they are in life.

Core Principles

  1. Open Door, Open Heart
Everyone is welcome—no matter your background, beliefs, questions, doubts, or current journey. The only "requirement" is openness to the idea that there is something greater than ourselves (call it God, a Higher Power, the Universe, or whatever resonates with you right now). No one will be turned away or judged for where they are.
  2. No Judgment, No Pressure
This is a space of grace, not performance. Share as much or as little as feels right. Conversations about life, faith, struggles, victories, and everything in between happen naturally—no one is preached at, converted, or shamed. We listen more than we lecture.
  3. Respect & Kindness First
Treat every person with dignity and respect. No hate speech, harassment, gossip, or behavior that makes others feel unsafe or unwelcome. We celebrate differences in belief, lifestyle, recovery status, and opinions—diversity strengthens our community.
  4. BYOB (Bring Your Own Spirits) – With Responsibility
Guests may bring their own alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for personal use. We do not serve or sell alcohol on premises. Please consume responsibly; if someone appears intoxicated in a way that disrupts the group or safety, we may gently intervene or ask for support. Many in our community are choosing sobriety or moderation—this space honors and supports all paths.
  5. Fellowship & Appetizers Are Always Free
Appetizers, snacks, and gatherings are provided through voluntary donations—no one pays to attend, eat, or participate. Giving is encouraged if you can and feel led (tax-deductible as a recognized church), but never required. Your presence is the greatest gift.
  6. Focus on Life & Spiritual Growth
Our daily talks (Bible study, life discussions, etc.) are casual and relational—relating scripture, stories, or wisdom to real life. Topics may include faith, recovery, relationships, challenges, joys, and questions about God/Higher Power. Everyone's voice matters; no one dominates.
  7. Safety & Confidentiality
What is shared in our circles stays in our circles (unless it involves harm to self or others, in which case we prioritize safety and may involve appropriate help). We aim to keep the space physically and emotionally safe for all.
  8. Accountability & Growth
We celebrate personal transformation—whether it's quitting alcohol/soda, mending relationships, finding peace, or deepening faith. If someone needs support (e.g., sobriety accountability, prayer, resources), the community is here to walk alongside without fixing or judging.

In Short:
Come for the dinner and sports. Stay for the conversations. Leave with hope, friends, and maybe a little more clarity about what "spirits" you're really seeking. We're not perfect, but we're real—and we're grateful you're here. If something doesn't feel right or you have questions about these guidelines, talk to Raymond Lahti at the Church—we're always open to feedback to keep this space true to its heart.
